Mission Statement

Altrusa International of Spokane is a volunteer service organization of professional people dedicated to improving our community through personal service. Members combine their talents to develop and finance service projects meeting specific community needs. In addition, Altrusa provides opportunity for members to encourage one another as they learn to work as a team for their own individual development.

Our Motto is "Patriotism — Efficiency — Service."

Altrusa International of Spokane has been serving Spokane since 1931.

Founded in 1917, Altrusa is an International organization of business and professional people dedicated to using the best of their talents and expertise for the betterment of their communities. At both the local and international levels. Altrusa evolves to keep pace with the abilities and needs of its member and their community.

Meetings

  • Board/Business - Joint meeting once a month
  • Dinner/Program - Meeting third Monday of each month

Community Service Projects

    • Providing volunteer assistance to literacy programs for both children and adults
    • Hosting receptions for newly naturalized citizens
    • Assisting the Alternatives to Domestic Violence Program
    • Aiding the YWCA after school program for homeless children, providing enrichment activities meals and books
    • Contributing to "Our Place," a center which assists people in need
    • Providing scholarships and grants through the Altrusa International Developing and coordinating of Literacy Foundation
    • Network with KSPS and the Spokesman to feature a Literacy Day at the Spokane Interstate Fair in early September
