Scholarships have long been useful to promote both the
quantity and quality of candidates into a particular
profession or trade. They have been used to recognized merit
and to provide financial assistance to those who otherwise
might not be able to obtain a college or trade education. In
some instances scholarships have been used to disburse
excess funds to generate good public relations.
In 2009, Altrusa International of Roseburg will present
$4,000 dollars to graduating seniors from the schools
surrounding Roseburg
and $1400 to a second year student attending Umpqua Community College. In
addition, $100 is donated annually to the Altrusa Foundation
Grants Program
