Project ASK awarded about $6,000.00 in grant funds for the
2007-2008 fiscal year. A total of 25 grants were awarded,
serving 2,454 students. Some of the sponsored activities
included seeing plays at
Umpqua
Community College, visiting OMSI and
the
Oregon Historical
Museum,
field trips to Wildlife Safari, OMSI camps and OMSI
assemblies, books for students, and pedometers for walking
projects. Throughout the year the students receiving these
awards shared their experiences with the club by creating
cards, stories, and pictures. In February project ASK hosted
a program meeting with presentations by two award
recipients. The 5th grade honor choir from Sunnyside and
Green
Elementary schools
performed, and Mickey Garrison gave a presentation on some
of the exciting projects occurring in the area grade school.
