Club & District Locations

Altrusa attracts a wide cross section of members. The reasons they become Altrusans are as varied and numerous as the communities in which they live. Most join because they were invited by a friend or associate they trust. Many look for an opportunity to meet new friends; others to advance their skills. Some join to meet the people who shape their communities. Others want to add a meaningful new experience to their lives. Learn more about what we do – if you like us, contact us so that we may guide you in the process of becoming an Altrusa leader in your community.

Altrusa International, Inc. of Harrisburg, PA delivered 624 dictionaries on Dec 1, 2009 to the Camp Curting Elementary school in Harrisburg for their annual literacy project. Sixteen 3rd grade student were given a dictionary. The remainder dictionaries will be delivered to various elementary school in the Harrisburg School District by the school district so that each 3rd grade student receives a dictionary from our club! This project has been a joint project with the Harrisburg Mayor’s office.
Altrusa International, Inc. of Waco, Texas has enjoyed this year’s new service project called Project Military Support. The Waco club has adopted a group of Marines in Afghanistan and Iraq and has sent them wonderful boxes full of goodies. One of our members even had the opportunity to actually talk with the Marines the day before they shipped out and found out what they really wanted. This project was financed with the help of the people of the Waco area who donated more than $2,000 in goodies and money, the generosity of Wal-Mart and Sam's club who awarded Altrusa of Waco a $1,000 grant and an arrangement with "On the Border" restaurant where once a month Altrusa held Project Military Support night where a percentage of the gross was donated to the project.
