District Twelve
Altrusa International of Clark County
Foundation
Joan Rose - Chair

Mission: To support the mission and community service goals of Altrusa International of Clark County.

The foundation was incorporated in 1995 as a 501(c)3 entity to enable us to receive donations which are tax deductible to the donor. The foundation is governed by a board of directors and officers.  The directors must be active members of Altrusa International of Clark County.

The foundation receives gifts, grants, donations and proceeds from fund raising events.

The foundation disburses its funds by awarding vocational grants and expenses associated with its community service projects.

Currently the foundation has fulfilled its pledge to Three Creeks Library of $10,000 for books, materials, and equipment for the children's area, and its pledge to the Battle Ground community Library for its construction. The Foundation is in the process of fulfilling its pledge of $10,000 to the Cascade Community Library. The Foundation participates in Reading is Fundamental at low income schools, and works with Babies in Need to provide literacy related items that are included in the babies' layettes. Every spring the Foundation awards an annual Library Service Awards to a library employee in Clark County.

To volunteer: To participate in a fund raiser contact our Ways and Means chair Teresa Schwark. We will be holding a wine tasting fundraiser at Salut Wine Shop in Vancouver, in July featuring wines from Walla Walla.

To participate in community service events contact our community service chair: Darlene Downey.  We can use people to help read to children in our Reading Is Fundamental program and to bring treats for the children. We collect coffee and homemade cookies for the Fort Vancouver Seafarers Center.  We have a banquet dinner to present our Library Service Award in April and there is much planning for that by the Library Service Award committee.
