"Creative ParticiPaction!"

Our incoming president, Judy Lambert, is encouraging us to bring forward ideas, be creative in our thinking, be active participants and -------have fun.
Hey, our club is growing! We had a fabulous March 2010 Program and Dinner Meeting sponsored by our membership committee. It included a fashion and travel show. Nineteen members and twenty-one guests attended. We now have six perspective new members.
The Literacy Leader Award
We are the first recipient of Campbell River Daybreak Rotary's new award. They honored our contribution to literacy in our community with a plaque and a $350 donation in our name to provide the DVD "I Love When you Count" with a sticker that says "donated by Altrusa International of Campbell River for books for Babies". These DVDs will be included in the Books for Babies program in B.C. We are delighted!
In order to share and keep in touch with Altrusans everywhere we have set up a Shutterfly webpage CLICK HERE and voila you are there. It is fun and easy to navigate. A couple of quick tips: click on a photo album, click on a slideshow, and enjoy.
► Since its inception, we have contributed over $500,000 to our community. We support literacy, civic health & welfare, and civic safety programs.
► One of out literacy programs that is near and dear to our hearts is "Reading Rocks Comfort Bags" for children at the Ann Elmore Transition House. These bags are full of books, activities, and quillows (blankets that fold into pillows). Our member enjoy sewing the bags and the quillows and then stuffing them with books.
We hope you enjoy reading our May 2010 newsletter - click here or at the top of the page.
